Shawn’s Trade Idea: Buy Eagers Automotive Ltd (ASX:APE) at $23.20

APE has looked good through April being a major beneficiary of increasing EV sales which we discussed earlier in the month Here. The consolidation over the last few weeks, even as the ASX retreated, is a very encouraging sign for the bulls.

Trading Ideas – Position Updates

We start the week with two open positions and all previous resting bids cancelled: Long the Global X Copper Miners ETF (ASX:WIRE) at $20.98 with stops at $23.20. Long Xero Ltd (ASX:XRO) at $75.28 with stops at $77.40.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Buy Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:MIN) at $62.65

Mineral Resources looks great at the moment, targeting the $70 area, or ~10% above Fridays close. With this mornings potentially soft open we see an opportunity to “buy the dip” but with two long positions already in play we are placing our bid ~1.5% below Fridays close, remembering this can be a volatile stock.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Buy Xero Ltd (ASX:XRO) at $76.00

We are cancelling yesterdays unfilled bids in PME and WTC and instead looking to “pay up” for Xero in what’s likely to be a strong opening. With an initial target of ~$90 we are keen to get set this morning.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Buy Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:PME) at $107.40

This bid in PME is similar to WTC in logic but due to the stock’s volatility we have placed our bid significantly lower, effectively buying a second wave of weakness in the ASX software names if we see panic early this week.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Buy WiseTech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC) at $35.25

We were stopped out of XRO for a profit last week as the software space came under renewed selling after Anthropic launched Claude Managed Agents and Meta unveiled a new AI model. These chapters of AI news will undoubtedly keep coming but our view is the rerating across the software sector has run its course and the next ~20-25% move at least for WTC is on the upside after US peers made fresh 2025 lows on Friday night - initially we are looking to buy a new low in WTC but this may change during the week.
