Comex Copper ($US/lb)

Copper, much like equities, reversed sharply higher overnight as optimism around the Middle East conflict improved sentiment toward global growth assets. The industrial metal remains heavily tied to economic activity and infrastructure demand, both of which will benefit significantly from the Strait of Hormuz reopening and energy markets stabilising.

Copper ($US/MT)

Copper rallied sharply last week on hopes that an end to the Iran War would see the global economy get back to full speed sooner rather than later. Some of the US heavyweight names like Freeport-McMoRan (NYSE:FCX) even punched to new highs on Friday leading the industrial metal - unfortunately local names aren’t going to open with the same bang this morning after the geopolitical reversal on Saturday morning.

MM usually follows LME Copper for longer term trends but the Comex futures contract can paint a clearer intra-day picture, especially during periods of elevated volatility. Last night, copper reversed sharply from its lows, and it's starting to look/feel like the industrial metal is at least looking for a low.
