Without doubt, GQG has been a fantastic fund manager seeing average monthly inflows of around $2bn, with the funds they manage increasing over 50% in the past 12 months to ~$160bn. That’s been driven by a big distribution network tapping into strong performance and a lower fee structure than most other active managers i.e. what’s not to like.

Is it too early to follow GQG out of Tech?

When high-performing funds make major sector switches within their portfolio, we always believe it makes sense to evaluate the move. GQG has basically halved its tech exposure in their global equity fund to just 21% in April from 43% a month earlier having now moved “underweight” the sector compared to its benchmark. After exiting its position in Google's parent Alphabet this year, GQG has also sold shares in Meta, Microsoft and Amazon. Although the firm has cut its stake in Nvidia, the AI chipmaker and market darling is still the largest position in the global fund.

GQG Partners-CDI (GQG) $1.385

GQG might not be known to all subscribers but it’s a $4bn global boutique asset management firm that focuses on actively managed portfolios, the stock was one of the largest floats on the ASX in 2021 which so far has drifted lower in unison with the market and sector. From a value perspective, they sit in the middle with an Est P/E of 10.2x for 2022 earnings, on a yield perspective it pays dividends quarterly and is currently on track to pay around 3.7% pa.
