Shawn’s Trade Idea: Austal Ltd (ASX: ASB) $3.87

Last week the Australian Government committed a further $4.6 billion to expand the Osborne Naval Shipyard under AUKUS, taking total funding to more than $8.5 billion and strengthening Austal's long-term domestic naval shipbuilding pipeline. We like the risk/reward this announcement delivers for ASB after its sharp ~60% correction.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Ramsay Health Care Ltd (ASX: RHC) $43.12

We like RHC, its started to deliver operationally after spending years in the shade and while it still has a long way to travel to test the dizzy heights when KKR bid $88 for the stock, we believe the next 20% is on the upside with a break above $45 feeling like a matter of time.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Global X Semiconductor ETF (ASX: SEMI) $38.20

We believe the strong appetite for the SK Hynix (SKHYV US) float last week showed strong appetite into current weakness for the semiconductors and further weakness will provide excellent risk-reward in what is a very volatile space, lending itself to short term technical trading.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Capricorn Metals Ltd (ASX: CMM) $14.03

We had already written up CMM as our Trade Idea this morning before a bid for gold player Vault Minerals (VAU) from Genesis Minerals (GMD) flashed across our screens. The bid trumps the previous approach from Regis Resources (RRL) putting VAU very much “in play” and the gold sector prime for more M&A activity. Hence, we may struggle to get set this morning.
