Shawn’s Trade Idea: Treasury Wine Estates (ASX: TWE) $5.42

This is our second foray into TWE, frustratingly we were stopped out at $4.56 in July, though this doesn’t mean we can’t re-enter at higher levels if the signals are strong. This is clearly a recovery play but with the added spice of a potential takeover bid following the emergence of European billionaire Olivier Goudet (former CFO of Mars, former CEO of JAB Holding) as a 9% shareholder via his investment vehicle Platin SARL earlier in 2026.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: GrainCorp Ltd (ASX: GNC) $6.55

GrainCorp (GNC) has rallied strongly in September, including a one-day +11% surge following a significant upgrade to Australia’s 2026/27 wheat crop forecast to 29.9Mt, around 12% above the June estimate. The improved harvest outlook, elevated global grain prices and the strongest crush margins in three years have driven earnings upgrades and higher analyst price targets, while Black Sea disruptions are also diverting export demand towards Australian grain.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Elders Ltd (ASX: ELD) $6.21

We’ve had some mixed results picking turnaround stories but here goes again.! Agri business Elders has underperformed in 2026 since an awful blowout from an IT transformation program that shocked the market in May, on top of El Niño-driven agricultural headwinds. However, the steady recovery since June reflects valuation normalisation and asset sale execution, and we feel the worst could be behind this weather influenced business.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Vault Minerals (ASX: VAU) $6.93

The gold sector’s likely to experience some profit taking this morning following the Fed Chairs hawkish comments on Friday night - gold ETFs fell ~4% in US trade. However, after seeing VAU surge over 50% in just 4-weeks we intend to be slightly pedantic with our entry level, we can always pay up later in the coming weeks if the deep pullback doesn’t materialise.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Global X Semiconductor ETF (SEMI) $35.49

Semiconductors and the broader “AI trade” have dominated headlines in recent weeks, as heavily leveraged positioning unwound and cascading stop-losses drove the sector into a sharp correction, even attracting the attention of Korean regulators.
