Trading Ideas – Position Updates
We start the week with three open positions - stops have all been lifted after enjoying another strong week, although it was frustrating to see Cleanaway Waste soar more than 20% on M&A news shorty after we were stopped out.
Shawn’s Trade Idea: Global X Semiconductor ETF (ASX: SEMI) $35.70
This is potentially our second foray into the SEMI ETF in recent months, we believe the ETF will break its July swing low but how far it then falls is a coin toss with our initial buy level equating to a similar fall as we saw in June & July.

However, we do continue to like recovery stocks in the coming months for sharp gains, such as Harvey Norman (HVN) and ARB Corp Ltd (ARB) - see below.
Shawn’s Trade Idea: Elders Ltd (ASX: ELD) $6.21
We were stopped out of Elders last Friday but Mondays reversal higher is affording us another chance to get some decent risk/reward from the stock, even if we have to pay more to re-enter - we must always remember that egos add no value to either investing or trading!
Shawn’s Trade Idea: SEEK Ltd (ASX: SEK) $11.87
If MM is correct and the ASX can rally back above 9000 we see the gains being largely driven by the miners and some bargain hunting in beaten up stocks, e.g. SEEK has more than halved from its 2025 high. The stock is now trading more than 40% below its average 5-year valuation leaving plenty of room for a bounce, especially if bond yields stop rising.

Shawn’s Trade Idea: Treasury Wine Estates (ASX: TWE) $5.42
This is our second foray into TWE, frustratingly we were stopped out at $4.56 in July, though this doesn’t mean we can’t re-enter at higher levels if the signals are strong. This is clearly a recovery play but with the added spice of a potential takeover bid following the emergence of European billionaire Olivier Goudet (former CFO of Mars, former CEO of JAB Holding) as a 9% shareholder via his investment vehicle Platin SARL earlier in 2026.
