The ASX200 looks set to open back above 7150 this morning following a very strong Friday night close on Wall Street, especially when we consider the invasion of the Ukraine by Russia, a move that almost every country staunchly opposes. Destabilising tariffs & banking actions have already commenced and its hard to imagine them evaporating in a hurry even if Russia starts withdrawing this morning, the global dependency on Russia / Ukraine for the likes of natural gas, oil, wheat and aluminium to name a few is likely to maintain upward pressure on global inflation – just when many fear it will cause the end of the post GFC bull market for stocks i.e. its easy to comprehend ongoing volatility through 2022.
