The car & truck parts business has been a big beneficiary of border closures and lockdowns with the stock performing strongly since it was added to the portfolio. With the secondary car market running hot, BAP may still have some headroom in terms of earnings, likely to see some growth even as international travel opens up towards the end of the year.
MM is heavily exposed to the banking sector which has enjoyed a great run in 2021, we are now looking to take some, note not all, profit into the current strength e.g. year to date Westpac (WBC) is +29% and Virgin Money (VUK) +52%.
Gold producer NCM has been a thorn in our side over the last 6-months and we believe it’s now or never for this position hence we are considering increasing our exposure.
We’ve tweaked our opinion on Bitcoin over the last week, our preferred scenario is now the crypto will pop its head up to fresh highs to ~60,000 before correcting the whole advance from 2020 lows. US stocks rallied overnight although they closed poorly with the Energy Sector in particular enduring a tough session. However the NASDAQ surged ~4% and we believe it’s the likes of Apple (AAPL US) and Facebook (FB US) that will drag the broad based S&P500 to fresh all-time highs.
We’ve touched on APT a few times in recent reports and yesterday it bounced over 7% from its intra-day low, my “Gut Feel” is we’ve now seen a decent swing low and the next 20% for this volatile BNPL stock is up.
