Archives: Questions And Answers

Maxitrans Industries (MXI) have announced a process whereby they will sell their Trailer Division and then make a Special Div later in the year, then move on to concentrate on their truck parts business. Understanding you can’t give personal advice, do you have any view on whether to sell MXI shares now (they have reflected the upcoming sale and special div) and re-deploy capital, or wait for the div, or even stay invested with MXI in their new format? Keep up the good work guys – read your newsletters avidly and especially enjoy your macro insights and commentary on the mining/materials sector.

Hi James and Harry, Actually, two questions if I can? Firstly – Service Stream. Their non-renounceable retail share offer seems to me pretty skinny: circa 3% discount on today’s (Tuesday) share price. They have made a good fist of destroying a lot of value for a lot of shareholders in the last little while: can we believe that they can make the Lendlease Services acquisition work? Will MM be taking up the offer?

Dividend time is fast approaching. Which stocks, if there are any, with decent dividends, would you consider with the highest conviction? Btw, new subscriber, impressed and happy so far 😉

Hi James Why does a strengthening US$ result in weakening resources stock prices? On the face of it, if contracts are written in US$s a rise in the value of the US$ would mean more A$ profit. Please excuse the dumb question. Cheers John
