IVE Group (IGL) – is it time to sell?

*Last Weeks* I imagine like many other investors, we are currently on the horns of a dilemma with a number of shares we own. Given all the doom and gloom about the supposedly coming recession, do we go to cash by selling shares that may not do well in a down-turn? high on our list is IGL. They are doing very well at the moment, but, given the nature of the business we think they could take a tumble if a recession does eventuate. Does MM agree? Do you have a target sell price for your holding in IGL?

Answer

Hi Karl,

Ive Group (IGL) has had a nice run in the last 6 months and we believe there is more upside on the stock. They have emerged through a very tough period in a strong position having just bought their major competitor, their balance sheet is in very good shape and importantly they now have a monology in ~50% of their business which will give them pricing power. In other words, if this is a horse and cart industry.

In regards to dealing with the changing macro climate, since the start of 2022 we have said we need to be a touch more active and ready if we required to tweak positions. MM believes recession fears are warranted and while we cant predict such things its best to have a balanced and open-minded approach, but when companies are delivering, it’s often best to stick with them.
