Question asked

Online investment portfolios

These sound really great and a great step forward for investors that do not need advice, but rather a low cost well managed core portfolio. One question, in your video you say they are actively managed. For the portfolios that use indexed funds, do you mean you actively change the asset allocation. If you do, what is your approach to managing the asset allocation?

Answer

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the feedback and for any subscribers that missed the webinar this is the link, alternatively further MM Invest information is available on the MM website here.

We have one portfolio on the site that uses index funds, our Core ETF Portfolio, and while this is not open for investment currently, it will be later in the year.

We actively manage the asset allocation structure by working within a set of defined ranges for each asset class. Broadly, the portfolio is set 60% growth, 40% defensive, however, we can down weight equities and upweight fixed income if conditions change, or sway towards international equities vs domestic equities due to relative attractiveness.

As we move towards launching opening up the strategy for investment, we will provide a more comprehensive overview of how this works from a practical perspective, however , below are the broad ranges in which we operate.
