Question asked

Does MM like the Global X FANG ETF (FANG)?

Hi James and Team Watched the Webinar today - Marcus Padley recommended the FANG ETF for International exposure to Tech. If one does not have direct International exposure would you agree the FANG ETF would be the way to go? You mentioned Microsoft, Snowflake are included in this ETF which M Matters have in their International Portfolio. This ETF is trading at it's highs for the year. If you call it a buy at what price would you get in? Ben mentioned if Fed pauses growth could sell off - Should one wait and see at this stage for a better entry point? regards Debbie

Answer

Hi Debbie,

Lots of questions here, I have tried to simplify by splitting our answer into 2 halves:

  1. If we wanted to garner exposure to general US Big Tech this FANG+ ETF makes sense, currently it comprises of Google Alphabet 10.7%, Snowflake 10.6%, NVIDIA 10.6%, Meta Platforms 10.5%, Amazon.com 10.2%, Microsoft 10%, Apple Inc 9.6%, Netflix 9.54% & Tesla 8.21% however at MM we prefer a more stock specific approach. We think Tesla has some challenges around competition moving forward, we’re not fans of Meta and we prefer The Trade Desk to Google for advertising exposure.
  2. MM has been extremely bullish tech (growth) stocks since Q4 of 2022, this ETF has now rallied +55% into our target zone hence we are considering reducing our tech exposure as opposed to increasing it.
  3. We will have our International Equities Portfolio open for investment in the new FY making it an easy and seamless way to get exposure to international shares with an actively managed MM approach.
