Archives: Questions And Answers

Both of these commodities have come off their recent highs. Do you believe this a stepping down move or more of a breather before another surge upwards? Is the Mkt waiting for the interest rate cuts or is the geo-political status in USA, Gaza, Ukraine causing greater impact?

Hi Shawn, I would like to understand why yesterday when gold went down $50 per ounce EVN and NST both held firm. I would appreciate your insights. Regards Jeff

We seem to be approaching a cross road where interest rates may being to drop in US and potentially rise in AU? How would this effect technical stocks in AU? Noting that falling interest rates is usually beneficial to cyclic and consumer stocks, and not to high growth tech stocks? In my portfolio I have a large allocation towards technical and health stocks. So my question is, should I be looking at reducing my exposure in this sector or hold due to potential interest rate increase/s in AU? Some of my tech stocks have achieved good gains in the last 12 months (i.e. key stock holdings…ASX: 360, AD8, ALU, DDR, MP1, NDX, PME, WTC, XRO; US: GOOGL META, MSFT, NFLX, TTD).
Thanks in advance.

I believe MNRS was held in the ETF portfolio at one stage, this appears to have dropped off?!! Would you please provide your updated opinion on this ETF? Is this just another replication of the gold price, similar to the ETF GOLD and experiencing a short term top?
Thanks

I received an email from ASR Wealth, a business owned by AAIG saying that it was the intention of AAIG to list on the ASX VERY SOON underpinned by a return of at least 35 cents a share payable by APSEC, another business owned by AAIG. I have complained to ASIC and soon to AFCA for this obvious misleading behaviour. ASR Wealth are now promoting AAIG 15 percent convertible notes further diluting the value of the ordinary shares and obviously have no intention of listing them either. AAIG lost their AFSL for one of their brokers Ascot Securities so they are already in the bad books with ASIC. I am looking at commencing a class action after attending a meeting with 26 other affected clients of ASR Wealth organised by another stock broker with a law firm.

Hi James and Team
Your latest on the banks were “too late to increase exposure to Banks but aren’t yet considering taking any profits from our holdings.”
When are you likely to take any profits or trim exposure with July soon behind us and reporting season looming.
What are your expectations on CBA when they report? Will it support all the Banks? Will you be holding until the dividend is paid ? (ex date around 16th Aug).
Would it be prudent to trim ANZ & NAB into any strength prior to CBA reporting since they will not be paying any dividend until Nov?
regards
Debbie

Thank you MM team for your insight and information, much appreciated. Really like the weekend Q&A and find them very useful.
What are your thoughts on some portfolio performance numbers like the Sharpe ratio particularly for times of increased volatility? Would you consider sharing some benchmark figures for your various portfolios in their respective dashboard and adding risk related information to the stocks?
