Archives: Questions And Answers

Hi guys, I’m sorry keep asking about indexes and off key questions, I know you would much prefer stock specific.
What Indexes do you think offer the best value / risk reward at present?
I had been waiting for a good wash out, but it just doesn’t seem to come.
I like trading Nasdaq, Dow, 500, 2000, FTSE 100, Stoxx 50 and of course the ASX200. What do you see as performing well into Christmas? Even with rate cuts, the US and ASX seem over valued to me. I had been expecting more from the Stoxx50.
UK and ASX I’d expect would like the resource recovery, but I feel it’d be more transitional between sectors than than a solid influx of money.

Hi team, With energy and commodities stocks taking a beating at moment does Market Matters consider it still early to buy the dip? I am interested in MIN FMG S32 PLS WHC particularly. Keep up the good work. Cheers. John

Hi guys, how will the new S&P fund rule system affect larger companies? Essentially, I hold a decent position in the Nasdaq, will Nvidia, apple and Microsoft get sold off to meet new rules? From what I can make out, it’ll be out of one pocket into another, so the overall value will stay the same in the fund, and the Nasdaq overall. Is it limiting the 3 largest companies to 50% cap combined? If passive funds will now be capped, what do you think the portion is between active and passive institutional ownership is in the larger companies? For example 45% shares owned by passive / tracking funds, 30% active institutions and 25% private retail?
Regards,
Simon

Hi Team
GOOGL has been sold off hard on ongoing anti trust concerns etc. and is now trading well below it’s 200 day moving average. I know this is on the MM hit list for the international equities portfolio so do you guys see this as a buying opportunity, or are there real concerns with pending DoJ actions?
If you are still keen, where would your buy entry be?
Thanks
Alex

Hi guys
Srg are doing a capital raise at $0.83 /share and they are currently are trading at $1.07. They are offering up to apply for $30000 worth
this likely to be oversubscribed and you will probably only get a small parcel of shares
From your experience of capital raises like this and i know its only a guess do you think there is any chance of getting anywhere near the maximum allocation
Thanks
Tony

Thoughts on APA please? A positive initial reaction to results last week followed by a progressive decline to multi-year lows.

There are conflicting views as to where the gold price goes from here. Given a weakening $USD and, as of last night, gold futures looking positive short term, is there any reason to think that the price is topping out at around $3,740?
