Hi Richard,
VanEck Bentham Global Capital Securities Active ETF is a very small fund at this stage with net assets of just $4m from what I can see. They hold international hybrid securities mainly in Europe promoting the view that the international hybrid markets are bigger and better than Australia. When holding debt type securities such as hybrids, there are lots of nuances within them and it’s important to know / understand the conditions. While I’m sure VanEck managers do, I feel more comfortable in this area sticking to what I know and understand which is the local Hybrid market.
If looking for income, The Market Matters Active SMA which is open for investment holds locally listed hybrids and other fixed income style securities along with equities, it has returned more than 10% per annum since inception and has around 50% less volatility than the ASX 200.
