Question asked

Web Travel Group Ltd (WEB)

Hi Market Matters What's your latest view on WEB? Would you be investing in the travel space at the moment? regards Deb

Answer

Hi Deb,

For subscribers not up to-date on the last years activity at WEB:

In September 2024, Web Travel underwent a demerger, separating its consumer-facing operations, including Webjet OTA and GoSee, into a new entity named Webjet Group (WJL). Post-demerger, Web Travel (WEB) has concentrated exclusively on its B2B platform, WebBeds. Unfortunately not long after the demerger, in October 2024, WEB’s share price plummeted by more than 30% following the release of its FY25 trading update due to concerns over compressed margins, particularly within its European operations. – timing!

In May 2025, Web Travel announced its full-year results which seemed okay, initially pushing the share price up ~10%:

  • Total transactional value (TTV) increased by 22% year-over-year to $4.9 billion.
  • FY26 Outlook: WEB has commenced the new fiscal year with trading in all regions significantly surpassing market growth rates.

However, the markets lost confidence in the travel sector through June due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the middle East and tourists decreasing enthusiasm towards the US. We like WEB into fresh 2025 lows in the $3.5-3.75 region where we solid value.
