Question asked

Costs for Lithium producers please

Hi Team, Which of the lithium stocks in the ASX have the lowest production costs or are still profitable at current lithium prices? How does one get access to IPOs in Hong Kong? Thanks & regards, Sidney

Answer

Hi Sidney,

A very topical question after MIN’s Chris Ellison said on Thursday its three mines remained profitable even with prices at the current depressed levels – the stock soared ~7% on the news with many analysts thinking 2 of its 3 mines had been close to breakeven, or worse, at current levels.

  • MINs production cost for the December half at its Mt Marion mine were $US548 a tonne which is expected to fall towards $US500 by July.

Recent estimates for other produces of SC6 (Spodumene) were Pilbara $US509, IGO $US526, SYA $833, and CXO $US1838. These should only be used as a guide but the marginal producers are clear.

In terms of access to Hong Kong IPO’s we can only suggest you investigate specialised o/s brokers who get regular allocations to share with their clients, you may need one domiciled in HK itself.
