Interesting “Plunge Protection Team” (PPT) meeting

Hi James and Shawn Not a question , just an observation after reading the MM weekend report. "Yellen meeting with both Federal Reserve and FDIC officials to assess the collapse and impact on the overall banking system". It appears the PPT (Plunge Protection Team) is concerned enough to meet. I guess this flags caution for the road ahead? Have a good weekend. JanP

Answer

Hi Jan,

The PPT or the “Fed Put” has definitely been rolled back out following the failure of Silicon Valley Bank (SIVB US) and Signature Bank (SBNY US) we find it encouraging to see Janet Yellen et al moving to stem any panic contagion run on the banks as opposed letting a repeat of the GFC unfold.

On Wednesday night Swiss authorities moved to follow suit with Credit Suisse (CSGN SW).
