How best to play silver on the ASX

Hi Team, Question for you on the precious metals and in particular silver. It seems some love is slowly coming back to this space. A couple of years back you talked about ways to gain exposure to silver for ASX investors. As far as silver miners go the universe seems somewhat limited. Do you have views on any ASX domiciled silver miners? Back in 2020 you mentioned SVL (Silver Mines Ltd) as a pure silver play on the ASX (at ~12 cents at the time) but noted it was not one for MM, it has now moved to ~23 cents and hopefully de-risked somewhat with positive drill results since. Has you view changed on this one? Any other thought/comments on silver and what's your forecast for this precious metals in 2022. Thanks Steve

Answer

Hi Steve,

We have been investing in gold stocks for precious metals exposure and while it’s not a perfect science it’s a lot easier than silver on the Australian stock front – we own Newcrest Mining (NCM) and Northern Star Resources (NST) in our Flagship Growth Portfolio. As for silver its probably best to simply buy the ASX listed Physical silver ETFS (ETPMAG) which by definition is all about the underlying precious metal price.
