Hi Tony,

FMG recently reported record fourth-quarter iron ore shipments of 55.2 million metric tons and a full-year total of 198.4 million metric tons, surpassing analyst expectations. Additionally, Fortescue achieved lower unit costs, the lowest since 2020, and announced the cancellation of its green hydrogen projects in Arizona and Gladstone.

Bloomberg consensus forecast is 45c fully franked.

However, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a slight beat considering the firm iron ore price and solid operational performance. On current projections, FMG is yielding ~5% fully franked.

Weekend Q&A: The Bull ASX200 cracks 9000 as volatility erupts on the stock level

The ASX200 fell away on Friday to close down 0.6%, with the heavyweight miners and banks largely reversing early gains to close lower. The index still managed to end the week up +0.3%, but it failed to hold above the psychological 9000 level, with healthcare, and especially CSL, weighing heavily. The week, as expected, was dominated by the reporting season, with “misses” treated a touch more severely than beats were embraced.
