Question asked

VanEck Emerging Income Opportunities Active ETF (EBND)

Hi James I'm interested in investing in EBND for income. How often does it pay distributions and what is its current yield? Do you think its a good investment? Many thanks Chris

Answer

Hi Chris,

The VanEck Emerging Income Opportunities Active ETF (EBND) pays a dividend monthly which has been 5.5c since November 2024 with its forecast yield over the coming year currently 6.1% unfranked.

We like the EBND ETF which offers a pathway for investors seeking higher yield through diversified exposure to global emerging market debt, both in hard and local currencies, under an active, flexible strategy. However, we note the 0.95% fee is on the rich side considering the targeted yield, but the ETF has delivered strong recent performance, especially over the last 1–3 years, driven by falling EM interest rates, local currency rebounds, and smart active positioning.

  • The ETF looks good while EM central banks continue to ease rates.
