Comments on BHP, WDS and coal stocks?

Hi James & Team, Would you please explain how BHP & Woodside's share price should be adjusted after their transaction? Using their last closing price before the transaction, what should be their respective theoretical price after the action Thank you for your overview of the coal stocks. What is your view on Stanmore resources SMR? Is it possible to rank the coal stocks CRN, SMR, NHC, WHC in order of preference? I have sold all the coal stocks & made substantial profits having acquired them at low prices as recommended by you & your resource analyst. Many Thanks

Answer

Hi Sidney,

There is  a lot in this question so please excuse the brevity in our answer.  Also we’ve actually largely covered your question in Thursday & Fridays reports:

  • BHP Group (BHP) and Woodside Energy (WDS) have  already been trading for a couple of days post the demerger so this isn’t a timely answer I’m afraid but neither has moved out of sync with their particular sectors over the last few days.
  • Stanmore Resources (SMR) $2.61 : is a $2.4bn coal explorer / developer, it looks attractive in the $2.30-2.50 region.
  • Ranking the coal stocks is extremely hard because its a function of their price and news flow at the time but if you pushed us at todays levels it would be WHC, CRN, NHC and SMR.
