Question asked

ASX trading directions and why they occur

Hi James and Team A behaviour I have consistently noticed in the market is a “recalibration of direction” occurring around 11:00 – 11:15am each day. It doesn’t always happen but often a distinct change in direction occurs in the ASX around this time. Is there a specific reason for this? Regards

Answer

Hi Brett,

There are a few potential reasons. Some traders let the noise of the first first hour go before coming into the market.  In weak markets, generally margin calls happen in the first hour and forced sellers liquidate positions during that time and markets often make the ‘11.30 low’, a pretty common term on the trading floor and finally Asian markets become more of an influence so that has a bearing on the ASX.
