Question asked

Are UK stocks too cheap?

Hi James and crew, The Telegraph newspaper has an article - suggesting that UK share prices are at historical lows, thanks to Brexit and Covid. If true and if the GBP is in fact due to strengthen, now may be a good time to buy some shares on the UK stock market. Any thoughts and any recommendations?

Answer

Hi Bernie,

UK stocks aren’t at historical lows per se but they are relatively cheap compared to the majority of their peers. We do like UK stocks and are long the European focused Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF (VGK US) in our Global Macro ETF Portfolio. However this position is already showing us a paper profit of well over 20% and we think the “easy money” is behind us, we are only targeting another 10% upside hence I would be cautious going too long  here unless it was on a relatively short time horizon.
