Blackmores Ltd (BKL) $71.96

BKL rallied +2.5% yesterday but the trend remains down to neutral at best and in today’s environment where investors have zero appetite for paying for potential growth, it’s still hard to find any compelling reason to buy BKL at this point in time. The company has been successfully expanding into Asia with more than half of the company’s sales now from the region, if they can maintain this and the stock’s valuation comes down to more reasonable levels it may be interesting later in the year.

This is a great example of how a market favourite can fall from grace and just keep falling! MM hasn’t been a fan of BKL because of its Chinese dependency and increasing competition plus for good measure much of the worlds slowly moving away from tablet health towards simply healthy eating. Blackmores Ltd (BKL) $75.61

BKL obviously believes buyers are circling as they’ve put in place a defence team, very proactive or they have a “sniff” i.e. there’s usually no smoke without fire. Similar to A2M this company has struggled with the demise (permanent or transitory) of the daigou sales channels but it has sensibly strived to replace this ~$200m worth of vitamin sales into China. This is not a business we love but it does smell like somethings about to happen.

Conversely BKL was the markets worst performing stock on Monday slipping 5% on no news, the stock continues to bounce around between $60 and $90 putting it into the watch and see area for MM on both the fundamental and technical level.
