Amazon.com Inc (AMZN US) $US234.11

E-commerce giant Amazon posted higher fiscal second-quarter profit and sales, helped by its four-day sales event in July and underscoring its resilience despite tariff uncertainty. The company also reported 17.5% growth for its prominent cloud computing arm Amazon Web Services. However, the Seattle-based company shares fell ~5% in after-market trade as projected income fell short of expectations.

  • 2Q revenue of $US167.7bn was a 13% increase and beat consensus estimates of $162.05bn.
  • 2Q EPS f of $US1.68, beat $US1.32 estimate.
  • Guidance for 3Q operating profit of $15.5-20.5bn implied a slight miss at the mid-point to consensus of $19.4bn.

Amazon isn’t doing anything wrong, but it seems like it will need a fresh catalyst to push up toward the $US250 level.

  • We can see AMZN making new highs into 2026, but short-term, we don’t think this result will be enough.
