Defence ETF’s

Interested in your view on defence ETFs including ARMR, DFND and DTEC, maybe there are others. They have had a good 2025, do you think they will continue to perform with the defence spending that is getting committed by various countries. Adrian Greetings MM team, Love your efforts, keep on trucking! Increased defence spending across the world has become one of the Big Ticket items across the world. So where do we invest to be part of expenditure investment & returns? Are there any ETFs available? Thx Glenn

Hi Guys,

There has been huge interest in defence over recent weeks in the Q&A reports and we almost covered the topical area on Friday, probably one for next Fridays ETF report. A few ETFs have sprung-up of late in the space as demand surged along with the related stocks – the three mentioned have only been available on the ASX for around 18 months. They are very similar but our pick is the Global X Defence Tech ETF (DTEC) although its a very close call:

The DTEC costs 0.5% pa for exposure to 43 stocks across the US, UK, Germany, South Korea, France and many more.
Its tracking has been excellent year to-date rallying +49.9% compared to the Global X Defence Index which has gained +49.6%.

Weekend Q&A: The ASX200 closes above 8600 for the first time

The ASX200 advanced another 1% last week, closing above the psychological 8600 level for the first time. The healthcare, real estate, and materials sectors all closed up around 3%, while the financial sector was the weakest over the five days, closing down 0.7%. For the market to extend the recent gains, it will need to shrug off high valuations and lack of earnings growth, although, as we saw last week, the resources stocks can do some of the heavy lifting after experiencing a tough 18 months.

The Match Out: ASX up ~1% for FY26, Resources find some love

A quiet end to a solid week for stocks, chalking up a positive move to kick off FY26. The FY25 trend of buying certainty at any price has taken a (slight) knock, with sectors and stocks representing better value attracting more flows this week.
