Europe/UK ETF with quality filter

Hi guys, I've done some work analysing the QUAL ETF from VanEck and I like the qualitative filters they apply to select the constituents of the ETF. The nature of this ETF though results in its performance skewed toward the performance of its US constituents. So, as I don't want to increase my exposure to US stocks at the moment, I was wondering, if there is a similar quality ETF in the market where the pool of stocks is selected from the FTSE or STOXX. Not just an index tracker ETF. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Angela

Answer

Hi Angela,

We agree with you believing international portfolios should now have decent exposure to European stocks, firstly looking at the QUAL ETF you mentioned:

  • Its largest 5 holdings are Meta Platforms, Apple Inc, Microsoft, NVidia and Visa Inc with ~75% of monies invested in the US.

For European exposure we like the iShares European Equities (IEU) ETF:

  • Its 5 largest holdings are ASML Holdings, SAP SE, Nestle, Novo Nordisk and Roche Holdings, with all of its investments across the European region including 21.4% in the UK, 15.9% in France and 14.9% in Switzerland.
