Hi David,
Investing in Energy Fuels Inc (UUUU US) is straight forward in that most local brokers now allow Australian retail investors to buy/sell shares in the US. However, the question is more around how this $US830mn company stacks up compared to its global peers.
Energy Fuels is a U.S.-based company primarily engaged in the production of uranium, rare earth elements (REEs), and vanadium which are largely regarded as strategic minerals. It operates in the mining and processing sectors, focusing on critical materials essential for clean energy, national security, and advanced technologies. In theory its operating in areas we like in the years ahead but it’s a space that’s been punished over recent years, both locally and overseas.
We aren’t very close to this business but in 2024, it reported a net loss of approximately $US47.77 million, a significant shift from the net income of $99.86 million recorded in 2023. However, the company is sitting on ~$170 million of cash and no debt at the end of 2024 hence if/when the space turns it should be well positioned to outperform.
