Question asked

JHX

HI JAMES, ON YOUR COMMENTS ON TRUMP'S VICTORY YOU WERE SUGGESTING GOOD PROSPECTS FOR JHX. JHX IMPORTS ITS FIBRO CEMENT FROM AUTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND, HOW WOULD IT AFFECT ITS PROFITS, IF THERE IS A 10% TARIFF ON IMPORTS AS TRUMP HAS THREATENED TO DO. I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR DAILY REPORTS , AND IT DOES PLAY A BIG ROLE IN MY INVESTING AND TRADING. THANK YOU.

Answer

Hi Indran,

Like most investment decisions when/where to buy JHX is a balancing act, in simple terms we have the below positives & negatives:

  • positives are JHX is a quality business, over 70 % of its revenue was generated in the US in FY24, the stocks pulled back over 20% since September and we believe it is an FY25 turnaround story which is now only a few weeks away.
  • negatives are interest rates higher for longer and US homebuilders slipped while the Trump Trade roared higher on election night.

We like JHX ~$48 and are considering it for our Active Growth Portfolio.
