The Latest Q&A
Answer
Hi Andrew,
Visa (V US) has held up better than I would have expected through 2022, it’s basically unchanged largely ignoring surging inflation, bond yields and recession fears. When we consider the -75% plunge by PayPal (PYPL US) its been a rare huge success story for an “old fashioned” business.
Visa dominates the US credit card business while it continues to grow digital payments and explores new revenue possibilities in fintech and crypto. The company delivered strong 2nd quarter earnings of $1.79, up 30% year on year helped by a lift in revenue to $US7.2bn, overall the stock looks good especially as its been holding up well during tough macro-economic times. One of those stocks that can be bought and held for the long term is seems. Looking at the Company Page on the Market Matters website here, shows 43 analysts that cover V, 24 of those have a ‘strong buy’ on it, 13 have a ‘buy’ and 4 have a ‘hold’.
