The week ahead – Monday 26th April

It’s a big week in markets this week as April wraps up. US reporting continues with some big names set to report starting with EV car company Tesla kicking it all off tonight. Tuesday is the big one though with UBS, HSBC, BP & Alphabet. More than 10% of companies on the Dow Jones Industrial Index will report on the day which will certainly move the dial on the index.

Wednesday will see Facebook, Apple, Ford & Boeing but the focus will largely turn to macro news. The next OPEC+ meeting on output is due, a key meeting with crude hanging around the $US60/bbl level. The FOMC rate decision and subsequent Fed Chair Jerome Powell news conference is also set for Wednesday while local CPI numbers print mid-morning  There’s more to see on Thursday too with US GDP and jobless claims printing – expected at 6% & 550k claims respectively.

Don’t expect a quite end to the week either – oil companies Chevron & Exxon are due to report in the US. Chinese PMI & European GDP and CPI will also be out to round out a big week of macro and micro data points. Plenty of news flow here to see the market breakout of the range.
