Good afternoon MM team,
I’ve just resubscribed again and do enjoy your excellent commentary and answers to my questions. I’m wondering how you see the outlook for Fineos FCL. They hit a 52 week high today (Monday) of $2.60 after a 52 week low of $1.22 – What do you think is driving this considerable change of fortunes and is it likely to continue?
Thanks and regards,
Rob
Trade Desks surged higher after Q1, and EPS beat estimates after the closing bell, sending the stock up around 14% in late trade. The outlook also looks solid, with management confident that second-quarter revenue will come in above $US682mn; the street is currently looking for $US682.7mn.
Travel stocks are feeling the pinch. We’ve recently seen downgraded guidance from Flight Centre (FLT) and Corporate Travel (CTD) locally, while it’s been more of a mixed picture overseas with Booking.com and Airbnb highlighting stable leisure demand trends overall, but they called out some weakness in the US, particularly from travellers coming from Canada and Europe – an understandable trend given anti-America sentiment stemming from the absurd tariff situation being worked through.
AMD beat first-quarter earnings expectations after the market close this morning on strong data-centre chip sales, sending the stock up 7% shortly after the result in late trade. AMD also offered a robust outlook.
Hi Team,
XYZ –26.73%: A wild trading session seeing the stock whipsaw after a disappointing 1st quarter result that beat on earnings but was soft on revenue; more concerning was the outlook for the year ahead with guidance downgraded as a weakening consumer comes into focus.
Morning Report 28/4/25 “net wave of EV adoption is just around the corner, as BYD and CATL claim some incremental advancements in battery range and charging speeds, i.e. next generation batteries with 1500km range and a game-changing rapid charging rate of 520km in five minutes, or 2.6km/second.” Weekend Aust Pg 31 WSJ “Mike Dunne, who runs a namesake automotive consulting firm, said CATL’s and BYD’s superfase charging technologies are a genuine breakthrough, but several challenges remain. The new technology will cost more, and frequent usage will wear out the battery cells, he said. “It’s more sizzle than steak” Dunne said. Q Will the early adoption cycle revert ?
We touched on this little-known $US80bn data centre goliath in March. By market cap, it’s almost exactly twice the size of Goodman Group (GMG), the 9th largest company in the ASX200.
After providing a weaker-than-expected forecast for operating profit in the current quarter, Amazon struggled in early after-market trade, falling ~4%. The company cited tariffs and trade policies causing consumers to pull back on spending.
