Question asked

Greenland & Rare Earths

Interesting story in the weekend AFR on rare earth minerals and the potential position of Greenland in future supply. Could you give your opinion on which Australian ASX companies have interests in the country and their status. Reference is made to GGG.

Thanks

Answer

I’ve not come across any other ASX listed companies in Greenland aside from GGG that you’ve mentioned.

Interestingly, the election result in Greenland has caused a sell-off in the stock. The Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) Party received the largest number of votes, giving it the right to negotiate with other parties to form a coalition government.

IA are anti Uranium and although GGG are focusing on rare-earths, Uranium is a by product and was going to have a positive impact on production costs. Not a deal breaker but a negative surprise none-the-less.  We like Lynas (LYC) in the Rare Earth space.
