Hi Bob,
It’s hard to be so prescriptive on this and provide a hard and fast rule that is suitable across all our portfolios, both domestic + our international portfolio which trades overnight, so we leave it up to individuals to make that call.
On our side, because we are instructing buying or selling across many accounts on multiple platforms our default is transacting over the day, spreading the order given the volume that is being traded.
We appreciate that is not possible for all, however, our general advice on execution is to have a plan and stick with it. i.e. buy on open each time, buy on close, buy at midday or buy over the day. Sometimes the fill will be better, sometimes worse, but overtime consistency, is what matters.
If a stock moves dramatically after an alert is sent, and we stop buying or selling, we will send another alert to notify subscribers. If that is not sent, the safe assumption to make is we are buying or selling over the day.
