Question asked

Is it time to reduce resources exposure?

Hi Team With Trump getting the nod in the USA and the Chinese economy in the doldrums with 60% Tariffs on the horizon. Do you think that the Chinese government can stimulate their economy enough to help up the beaten-up resources sector in Australia? I am interested in your thoughts as you have already mentioned it in one of your posts this week. If you do see MM reducing resources, what sectors do you see growth in 2025? Thanks Andrew

Answer

Hi Andrew,

Great minds think alike, we covered this very subject in more depth on Friday morning. In a nutshell we are considering where/when and how to trim our resources exposure, we have been overweight the sector through October & November and since Trumps landslide victory weakness across the space has weighed the performance of our Active Growth Portfolio.

  • We envisage trimming our exposure at some point soon.

Note this is primarily a portfolio management decision rather than  a change of heart towards the sector overall. i.e. lower conviction = lower portfolio weightings.
