Identifying stocks to sell

Hi, I am new to the site . Am enjoying it . thought your commods presentation today really good . Question please , how do you identify stocks that pull back sharply i.e. FMG , BHP recently . I know you hold BHP in some portfolios . for me one of the real value adds of a site like this would be to potentially point stocks that are overdone and should be sold . I know very hard to do , just interested in your thought/identification process please . short answer is fine. - thanks Mark

Answer

Welcome aboard Mark – great to have you. Correct me if I’m wrong however the essence of your question is around us highlighting when we sell stocks as opposed to simply putting out perennial buy’s as some services tend to do. You’ve certainly come to the right place given we run real portfolio’s, make decisions in real time and notify subscribers when we are selling stocks.

Rather than look back I have shown an example looking forward, there are a combination of factors involved with the starting point & core being “plan your trade and trade your plan” or in other words what are the reasons for the investment and what are your targets assuming no changes to the internal & external factors.

  • We are long OZ Minerals (OZL) believing the stock to be fully valued (even rich) in the $28-30 region but also cheap under $20 hence we will accumulate and / or sell accordingly.

As Peter O’Connor touched on with OZL in this week’s webinar it’s a quality company with outstanding prospects but into new highs it will simply become expensive which is when MM likes to sell stocks.
