Question asked

How many WPL shares will BHP shareholders get?

Can you please explain in some detail how the BHP Oil & Gas demerger with WPL will take place, specifically how many WPL shares will one get per one BHP share, in what tax year, how will the value be determined etc., and what Dividend entitlements follow, ie will the new WPL shares get the WPL half year dividend etc?

Answer

Hi Graeme,

The scheme documentation will be released in March, Shareholder voting happens in April with BHP’s divestment into this expanded WPL to complete in May (JQ22). Based on the specific NewCo ownership ratio BHP shareholders are going to be given something around ~$4.50/BHP share in Woodside stock with the transaction likely to complete this FY. In terms of the Interim dividend, WPL trades ex-dividend in late August so from what I understand, the WPL dividend will apply to the new shares however that will be confirmed or otherwise in the scheme documentation which is due out shortly.
