The US traded EDC provides leveraged exposure to the MSCI Emerging Market Index, it’s unhedged to swings in respective currencies, similar to the UPV ETF, it’s traded in $US, providing some mixed tracking for local investors. The ETF provides local investors with the opportunity to easily gain exposure to the likes of China and India. Fees are 1.08%, gearing is a hefty 3x, and dividends are paid quarterly, with a current yield of ~1.9%. Tracking has been good of late, over the last 3 months, with the MSCI Emerging Market Index +10.7% while the EDC ETF has gained +29.4% Overall, a solid ETF when active investors/traders want to gain simple exposure towards the emerging markets, a theme that MM continues to like.
- We like the EDC ETF, looking for it to extend its recent rally into Christmas.
