CRED is a ~$1.8bn ASX-listed ETF investing in investment-grade Australian corporate bonds, designed to deliver higher income (currently ~5.1%) than government bond funds, with 100% of the portfolio in fixed rate debt.
On Friday night we saw that US nonfarm payrolls had fallen by 92,000 last month, one of the largest declines since the pandemic, with job losses spread across a broad range of industries. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4%, raising fresh questions about the strength of the labour market.
The CRED ETF provides exposure to a portfolio of senior, fixed-rate, investment-grade Australian corporate bonds. It offers investors monthly distributions while charging an annual management fee of 0.25%. We view this as a solid security for income-conscious investors, with a running yield of 5.05% and an average credit rating of BBB+ (Investment Grade).
We have written several times recently about the quantum of interest rate cuts already priced into the market, with nearly 200bps of cuts factored into the US over the next year and 100bps locally. We think this could be ‘as good as it gets’ unless we see a sharper economic contraction
