Afternoon Report Wednesday 19 March 2014
The ASX 200 failed to follow strong overnight gains, limping to a small 11 point gain. Had it not been for strength in the banks, with ANZ +17c and CBA +26c, we would likely have closed in negative territory.
It was a quiet session today with news flow at a minimum. We reiterate that stock selection is vital in this current market, where the banking sector continues to outperform the miners. BHP and RIO both trades lower, closing -21c and -49c respectively.
We remain cautious investors in this market, where we continue to expect volatility. Set trading plans must be adhered to.
