Afternoon Report Thursday 30 October 2014

The ASX 200 closed 26 points (0.5%) higher at 5,470, led by the banking sector.

National Australia Bank (NAB) closed 0.8% higher to $34.64 after posting its Full Year Earnings in line with expectations including a fully franked dividend of 99c a share.

The Materials sector was the weakest link, with BHP Billiton (BHP) closing down 0.7% at $33.55 and Newcrest Mining (NCM) down 1.5% at $9.76, where we remain bearish the gold sector.

Echo Entertainment (EGP) had a strong run today, closing 6.2% higher at $3.76 after releasing positive earnings guidance.

Flight Centre (FLT) shed 2.7% lower at $42.31 after managing director, Graham Turner warned that the first-half growth was likely flat.
