Afternoon Report Thursday 24 April 2014
The ASX200 closed more-or-less flat on low volumes, adding just 5 points to end +0.1% higher at 5,523.
Three of the big 4 banks traded well today with ANZ continuing recent strength adding +0.1% to close at $34.61. CBA was the laggard closing -22c, or -0.3%, at $78.79.
Gold stocks recovered some of their recent losses as global investors look to buy safe-haven assets in the current market. Newcrest (NCM) closed +1.3% at $10.25 whilst OceanaGold (OGC) closed +3.4% at $2.47.
