Afternoon Report Thursday 18 December 2014
•The ASX 200 rallied 48 points higher today at 5211 after trading as high as 5265.
• Both the banking and resources sector contributed to the gains, with National Australia Bank (NAB) ending 38c, or 1.2% higher at $31.73 and Fortescue Metals up 15c, or +6.8% at $2.50.• The Gold sector had a stellar run, with Regis Resources (RRL) up 9c, or +5.8% at $1.64 and Newcrest Mining (NCM) up 47c, or +4.6% at $10.75.• Flight Centre (FLT) underperformed the broader market, down $3.17, or -9.1% at $31.87, after announcing a profit warning, cutting its previous forecast.• Woodside Petroleum (WPL) continued its stellar run, up $1.10, or +3.1% at $36.60. Although we sold a day early, we are still happy to have taken profit.
