Afternoon Report Monday 1st May 2015
The ASX 200 started the day on a cautious note but started to rally after it became apparent there was no selling pressure from the futures (SPI). The Index finished up 24 points (0.42%) to 5,814.
What has often been the case, the Winners and Losers swap from one day to the next. Today we saw a nice rebound in the Materials Sector up 140 points (1.5%) to 9,476. The usual suspects featured again today with Fortescue Metals (FMG), RIO Tinto (RIO) and BHP Billiton (BHP) rebounding strongly. See the Winners and Losers List below.
A close second to the winners circle was the Energy Sector. Origin Energy (ORG) finished up 30c (2.35%) to $13.04, Beach Petroleum (BPT) up 2.5c (2.25%) to $1.135 and Santos (STO) up 9C (1.08%) to $8.39
