Afternoon Report Monday 13 October 2014
The ASX 200 started its session near its lows of 5122 (-66 points) today, only to recover some of its losses to close 33 points lower at 5156.
The SPI Futures went into suspension around mid-day for a couple of hours due to a technical issue, where it remained quiet once the session resumed.
The big Iron Ore sector outperformed the ASX200 today, as it seems short covering was apparent ahead of China’s positive trade balance, where BHP closed 29c higher at $32.60, RIO Tinto (RIO) up $1.10 at $58.36 and Fortescue Metals up 20c at $3.46.
WDS limited (WDS), weighed down the mining services/industrial sector today, closing down 55.5c at 25.5c after announcing a profit warning.
