What does the word active mean in portfolios?

Just commenced a trial of Market Matters this morning. I'm looking at the 'Flagship Growth Portfolio". Could you please explain why some stocks are described as 'active' and others are not.

Answer

Hi There,

It’s not so much the stock as opposed to the position per se, it means if we didn’t already own it, we’d still be content to buy it at current levels irrespective of whether the position is up or down on the price we paid for it. A perfect example being Zip (Z1P) which we like under $7 and this is marketed with an active tab. NB: These tabs are updated each Wednesday morning to coincide with the portfolio positioning report.
