The MM Global Macro ETF Portfolio slipped -0.3% last week with gains by the Invesco DB Agricultural Fund (DBA US) +3% and Global X Copper ETF (COPX US) +1.8% offset by falls in the BetaShares Global Gold Miners ETF (MNRS US) -4.3% and BetaShares Strong Australian Dollar ETF (AUDS US) -5.3% - more volatility is likely on Friday after Jackson Hole.

Global Macro ETF Portfolio

The MM Global Macro ETF Portfolio gained +2.47% last week with both of the battery & lithium ETF (ACDC) and the BetaShares Global Gold Miners ETF (MNRS) positions advancing over 6%, unfortunately, the BetaShares Asian Technology Tigers ETF (ASIA) dragged on the portfolio falling just under 6% courtesy of weakness in Tencent and Alibaba.

Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF (VGK US) $US51.41

We bought into this European equities facing ETF in 2021 and considering the carnage that’s unfolded through many indices and sectors a paper loss of ~8% almost feels like a win! The ETF looks solid around the 50 area in-line with our general view towards equities across the region and again assuming we are correct that a bounce is close at hand for “risk assets” we can see the VGK bouncing well over 10% towards the 60-area where we are likely to take a small profit and reassess.

The MM Global Macro ETF saw our portfolio fall -3.5% with the portfolio fully invested.  The Global Gold miners (MNRS) -10.9% and Uranium Trust (U UN) -9.4% positions the biggest weights while our agricultural and Euro positions advanced +1.4% and 0.65% respectively.

The portfolio added 0.5% during the week and remains fully invested. The Aussie Dollar position (AUDS) gained +3.5% and Global Gold Miners (MNRS) rallied +2.8%, conversely, the Euro position (ULE) fell -4.5%, and the FTSE Europe exposure (VGK US) also declined -3.2%.

Global Macro ETF Portfolio

The MM Global Macro ETF portfolio had a strong week up +3.98% while cash sits at 10%. The Asia Technology Tigers ETF (ASIA) the main driver up +13.19% with more gains expected today, while the Sprott Physical Uranium Trust (U.UN.TSE) also rallied by +7.59% . The only real weakness of note came from the Proshares Ultra Euro ETF (ULE US) which fell -2.19%.
