Shawn’s Trade Ideas

Hi, I may be missing it with Shawn Trade Ideas which are put forward, but while I often see the stop loss being put in place, we don’t get the target price to take profit? The most recent one for APE has a stop loss at $21.80 but no target price for Profit.

Question asked

The Budget & CGT

Hi Gents,

With regard to your comments on Wednesday about the Budget potentially targeting the CGT discount. Mum and Dad property investors are soft targets, but if the Govt comes after equities they’re going to be affecting the likes of major banks, investment firms and Superannuation funds, not just Mums and Dads. Isn’t that political suicide, because they have no means of differentiating between the two.

Market outlook for 2026-27

Hi James & team,

Thanks again for the excellent market insights you provide each week. I find the service highly informative and valuable.

MM appears to be maintaining a constructive outlook for the remainder of 2026, with a ‘buy the dip’ approach regularly articulated in your daily reports.

How does MM reconcile that view with what appears to be a less supportive Australian macro backdrop: sticky inflation driven by prolonged elevated fiscal spending, high immigration-driven demand, and rising energy costs; the prospect of further RBA tightening, with market expectations suggesting two or three rate increases by December; increasing pressure on household disposable income; and likely fiscal restraint and/or tax changes from the Federal Government?

If these pressures persist, why shouldn’t investors expect slower growth, weaker consumer demand, margin compression, and rising recession risk, rather than a supportive environment for equities over the next 6–12 months?

Regards
Andrew

New Zealand 50 Gross Index

Thank you for all your excellent analysis & insights.

I understand that it is a narrow field, but I would be interested in your view on NZ stocks – perhaps a top four or five targets (which may or may not be dual listed on ASX). Thanks again.

Cheers

Question asked

Unexpected movement of shares from ASX to Canada.

Firstly, thank you for your service.

Just a couple of days ago my shares in A1G (African Gold on ASX), have been moved to Canada after the takeover by Montage Gold (MAU:CA)). I do not have any broker/account in Canada. It looks that I lost access to them. What should I do to access the shares again?
I would like to sell them now, but I have no idea how to do it 🙁
Can you give me some hints?
