ASX: ELS 29/10/2026

Why is Elsight (ASX: ELS) plunging over 20%?

Elsight (ASX: ELS) has plunged almost 40% over two sessions, including a ~24% fall today, after a disappointing September quarter revenue update raised concerns about the sustainability of its recent growth.

  • The Israeli-based company, which provides advanced communications technology for drones and unmanned systems, reported quarterly revenue of approximately US$2.4m, down sharply from US$8.7m a year earlier and below expectations.

Although revenue for the first nine months of 2026 was up 91% to US$25.8m, the sudden slowdown has rattled investors, particularly given the stock’s earlier strong performance.

  • Shares have now fallen around 75% from their June peak of $8.56, highlighting how quickly sentiment can reverse when a high-growth company, in a hot sector, disappoints.

The key concern is the timing and reliability of future orders from Elsight’s major European defence customer, with management indicating that discussions are continuing around future requirements and delivery schedules rather than providing firm commitments. This creates uncertainty around fourth-quarter revenue and raises questions about how predictable the company’s earnings will be.

  • On the positive side, Elsight retains a strong balance sheet, with US$59.4m in cash and no debt, while its recently announced partnership with US defence contractor AeroVironment offers longer-term growth potential.

We feel the sell-off appears driven by revenue visibility concerns rather than any deterioration in the broader defence technology sector. While the balance sheet provides reassurance, we would want greater clarity around customer orders before considering the stock which is still trading on 34x.

MM was bearish earlier in the months around $4.40 here, we are now neutral, closer to $2.
