ASX: IPX 12/10/2026

Why is IperionX (ASX: IPX) soaring?

IperionX (ASX: IPX) – A strong US Lead Sparks ASX Rally.

This $880mn US focused titanium technology company is rallying this morning following a strong lead from its Nasdaq-listed shares, which surged 7.85% to US$16.48 on Friday, before adding another ~1.9% in after-hours trading. Trading volumes were ~34% above average, suggesting renewed buying interest after the stock recently hit 12-month lows.

The recovery follows a difficult period for IPX, including B. Riley cutting its price target from US$52 to US$34 on 30 September, although it maintained its Buy recommendation. To put the numbers into perspective IPX is down ~56% YTD.

Importantly, there appears to be no fresh company-specific catalyst behind the rally, with the move looking more like an oversold bounce than a fundamental change in outlook.  For background, IPX is developing lower-cost, lower-emission processes to produce high-performance titanium products from minerals and recycled scrap, targeting strategically important industries including defence and aerospace.

Today’s strength looks largely like the ASX playing catch-up with Friday’s US rally, rather than a change in the investment thesis. With daily swings of 7–10% becoming increasingly common, we would be reluctant to chase the bounce, but it would be a scary short.

The next meaningful catalyst is expected to be the company’s quarterly update on 29 October, when investors will be looking for evidence of commercial progress and execution.

  • MM is neutral towards IPX around $2.45.
